Negotiating for Performance

On 2nd August 2016 at The Financial Times as part of Negotiating for Performance

It is a developers responsibility to champion performance to the business they work in. This is because performance matters and as a developer they are best placed to understand the implications things have on how fast a web page will load.

As part of championing performance, they need to be able to negotiate with the stakeholders of the site. This might involve working with the designers to work on building a user experience that loads fast and working with the project managers to put aside time to spend optimising the site performance.

This talk is going to look at how we work with other people in the business to prioritise performance. As part of this we will explore performance budgets and how they can be used as a tool to help the team fully understand the implications of each decision that is made about a site.
